Interactive Map (Beta Version)Welcome to the State of Florida’s interactive web mapping application —BroadbandStat. Here you can explore Florida’s broadband coverage. In addition, you will soon be able to use BroadbandStat to access the latest research about broadband adoption barriers across the state. Broadband mapping is an ongoing project that the Department of Management Services and Connect Florida will continuously strive to improve in terms of accuracy and coverage as more service providers participate with the State of Florida. The data contained within this map are currently in beta version. The map will continuously improve in accuracy as the data are validated through public feedback, field verification, and the participation of more service providers FeedbackConnect Florida relies on citizen feedback to perfect the accuracy of the broadband inventory maps. We strongly encourage the public to help us in the validation process. Please use the feedback button to submit questions or recommendations for coverage area changes or you can call us at 1-877-846-7710. We respond to all inquiries and incorporate relevant information. You may also view our FAQ page to learn more about the maps and our methodology. In addition, you may request the non-confidential data displayed in the maps. To request this data, please fill out the mapping data request form. Please note: The data contained in this map are currently in beta version and will be updated as we receive public feedback and more provider data. As of April 30, 2010, the map includes data provided by 23 Florida high-speed Internet providers. According to the most current information, 96.23% of Florida households have access to terrestrial fixed broadband service of at least 768Kbps downstream and 200Kbps upstream (excluding mobile and satellite services) – leaving approximately 238,838 unserved households-or 3.77%-that do not have access to a fixed wireless or wired broadband service offering. With mobile broadband service included, 99.80% or 6,325,592 Florida households have access to broadband service of at least 768Kbps downstream and 200Kbps upstream. This analysis is conducted through a geoprocessing tool that analyzes Census Block demographics with the aggregated broadband service overlay from the provider data. For more information about the methodology, please click here. Providers: As part of the State Broadband Data and Development grant program, this map will be periodically updated with data from additional participating providers and when new service areas are identified. The State of Florida wants to encourage all providers to participate. There is an informational page on the website for broadband providers. In addition, Connect Florida hosted a webinar for broadband providers. The slide presentation is available for viewing here. With BroadbandStat you will be able to:
Getting Started:How to navigate the map and change layers How to view demographics by area *BroadbandStat contains a very large amount of data, and a broadband connection is recommended for viewing. * As required by the US Department of Commerce’s State Broadband Data and Development Grant Program, if broadband service is available to at least one household in a Census Block, then for mapping purposes, that entire Census Block is considered to have broadband access. As such, broadband availability at an exact address location cannot be guaranteed. Providers supplying more specific data than Census Block are displayed as such. This map represents areas of broadband service availability determined by technical analysis of provider networks and accommodations for the impact of external factors on service quality. Satellite broadband services may also be available. *Your personal information is confidential and will not be sold, traded, or otherwise transferred to outside parties for marketing, advertising, or other similar purposes.
