The Florida Department of Management Services contracted with Connect Florida to work with all broadband providers and the public in the state of Florida to create detailed maps of broadband coverage. These maps will accurately pinpoint remaining gaps in broadband availability in Florida. Connect Florida will continue to develop and update the broadband data as it is collected and will make these updates available to public and private entities as well as citizens.

Connect Florida is a subsidiary of Connected Nation, operating as a nonprofit in the state of Florida, and a prominent voice for the nation’s need for better broadband data. Connected Nation completed statewide broadband availability maps for eight states, all prior to the current stimulus fund availability, and produced the nation’s first broadband availability map. In addition to these mapping projects, Connected Nation works with local communities to encourage broadband adoption and use. These programs, including computer donation, technology planning, and economic development, are essential in closing the digital divide in the United States.
